What this session will cover
Burges Salmon, Professor Rebecca Williams (University of Oxford), Monckton Chambers and Solomonic welcome you to join our co-hosted panel discussion exploring the future of AI in the public sector.
We recognise both the opportunities and challenges of AI. The opportunities for more efficient use of public resources, productivity and decision-making, alongside the various legal, factual and ethical risks.
The event is being held on Wednesday 5th June 2024 at 11am-12.30pm at Burges Salmon’s London office. It will be a hybrid event, where we will have availability to join in-person or digitally. Lunch will be served following the event.
The panel discussion will appeal to in-house legal, risk, data science and product teams who are procuring, developing and deploying AI – both in the public and private sector – and will cover a broad range of themes which include:
- How is the public sector currently using and expected to use AI?
- What are the opportunities of AI across the public sector?
- Challenges and risks of using AI and how can they be mitigated?
- Will there be a change to common law or new laws published?
- How are different jurisdictions trying to harness the opportunities whilst addressing the challenges?
- What is the future for public law and procurement disputes in the age of AI?
- What can we learn from public law and procurement law disputes data to date?
- Will disputes change in nature and number?
- Is public law in a position to respond to these changes? What can we learn from public law and procurement law disputes to date?
